Groupon sold me a product that "does not exist"

On September 29, I purchased four Ringling Bros. circus tickets from Groupon for the total of $176.00 USD. There were four different ticket options – Loge/Club/Balcony, Floor Seating, Front Row Seating, and Circus Celebrity Seating. I chose the floor seating. After four days, I finally got confirmation that the transaction had gone through. Note that they didn’t actually send me any kind of confirmation like you would think they would do. Instead, I had to keep checking back in on my Groupon account to see what the status was. Upon checking the status after 4 days, I realized that the tickets they gave me were not the tickets that I ordered. They gave me Loge seats, the least expensive tickets of the four choices, but still charged me the floor seating price. On Friday, October 3, I called to bring this error to their attention. After waiting in their phone *** for 40+ minutes, they finally answered the phone. The customer service operator I spoke with told me that there was clearly an error made, but he would have to forward it to someone else because they were just about to close. He said that I would hear from someone by the following Monday because it takes 24 business hours for them to respond. On Monday, October 6, I had not heard from anyone so I called them back. After waiting on hold for 40+ minutes once again, someone finally picked up the phone and said that the other operator was incorrect and that it takes 72 business hours for a response and that I would have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday. On Tuesday, October 7, I received an email from a Groupon representative saying that the tickets I received were correct (even though they clearly weren’t since I ordered floor seating and didn’t get floor seating). After work on October 7, I called them for an explanation about the email I received. After waiting 30+ minutes this time, an operator finally picked up and told me that the person who sent me the email made the final decision and that if I still had question, I would need to email her back. I explained to the operator that I was tired of having to keep call them back and that if they weren’t willing to resolve the issue now, I would dispute the charge with my bank. During this call, I can hear the operator typing away on her keyboard – apparently in an instant message with a manager. She finally comes back and says that the tickets I ordered “do not exist” and that they made an error on their web site. And even after admitting that they sold me a product that does not exist and that they made the error, they were still not willing to do anything to make up for the trouble it caused. The operator then continues to type away on an instant message with several managers (as she explained to me) and said that they could make a one-time exception and refund the money I paid back to my Groupon account as a credit. I explained to her that this entire experience has been nothing but a headache and that a credit on my Groupon account would be worthless because I never intend to buy from Groupon again after this terrible experience. I then asked her if they can refund it to the credit card that I paid with. She responds to my question with a question asking “would you like it back to your credit card?” (Really? I just told you I do. Why are you asking me back?) I told her yes and once again she continues typing away with her manager over an instant message. She comes back saying that they can make a one-time exception and refund it to my credit card. You’ll also note that during this entire call (and my previous calls to Groupon about this issue), not one person offered their apology for the mix up. It was very clearly their mistake, and they even admitted to it, yet nobody was willing to take responsibility for it. After this ordeal, I did a search online for “Groupon reviews” and the results are astounding – nothing but complaints everywhere. There is even an entire Facebook page dedicated to complaints about Groupon. It’s no wonder why there are so many complaints. I only wish I had researched this before making this purchase. That is one mistake I’ll never make again. As for Groupon, I have no desire to buy from them again. I don’t care if I need a rare blood transfusion and they’re selling a match for $1. I’d rather die than have to deal with their “customer service” (if you can even call it that).

Groupon's Bait and Switch/worthless customer service

I thought I purchased a 2-day stay at a resort from the Groupon website, as advertised on-line, for $79 per night. It took Groupon many hours to get me a receipt and when I looked at it I found that it was not correct….not only was it for only one night, but it was the wrong date, and they charged me for twice the advertised price. When I contacted Groupon as well as the resort, they both told me I would have to take it up with the other… meanwhile it was past the time for cancellation due to their slow service. The website I purchased from was incorrect, misleading and had terms that are illegal. I was stalled past the deadline for cancellation due to slow response and other means of putting me off. I could not, and did not use the reservation and now Groupon says they will not refund my $164.95. In essence, Groupon took my $164.95 for a resort stay that never happened and their answer is that I bought this by mistake, but since the cancellation deadline passed, I must forfeit the money to them. I know I am just a single person against a large corporation, but I long for the days of real customer service and care for the patron. In my business the customer's satisfaction is guaranteed -- the customer is always right! Groupon doesn't seem to need my continued business.

Good luck if you want to return a groupon local, customer service is ***

Groupon is so disappointing!!!! I simply need to return a groupon I have purchased. First of all, groupon processed my purchase as two separate order, which means I was sold for the same groupon twice, and get charged twice, unwillingly, and unknowingly, until I check the groupon website. I have attempted to do via multiple channels, calling the customer service number or writing email to customer support within 7 days of the purchase, none of them works!!! The phone number I tried to call was listed on the bottom of the groupon, the estimate wait time was always over 40 mins. Fine, I'll wait, but it always disconnected me even before the call went through. This happened exactly the same, twice. I spent over an hour total on the phone waiting, and only to get disconnected in the end, twice. I tried to look for info on groupon website, all you have is your return policy, you never say how to return it. This is not helpful at all! all the clicks link you to a circle of un-useful information. I have purchased stuffs time to time on groupon, I would be really cautious to use it from now on. Customer service is a big issue and communicating with groupon is a ***.

Groupon - I bought a ultimate package but was shipped a standard package messager

I recently purchased a ultimate package massager worth 49.99 + tax which comes out to be 55$. They ship the product after 3 weeks , but they send me a cheaper deal which they were offering it for 39.99. After tons of email back and forth with the support team, they acknowledge it was a mistake. But refuses to correct it. They ask me to ship it back to them and told me if this product qualify for a refund them might be able to refund me. ( not sure what happen if they mark this as min refundable which I think this product is) This company is full of junky tricks. They fraud their customer left and right. For good 3-4 years I use to groupon for everything I need. But I learn my Lesson the hard way. I can't stand being fooled an that is exactly what I feel right now. I hope the executive C reads this and fixes their fraudulent tricks. Obaid

Crooked Groupon - Refuse to refund money

I requested a refund for two groupons within the 7 days of purchase and customer service emailed me saying that they refunded the total amount in "GROUPON BUCKS" credited to my groupon account!!! I emailed back and clarified that I needed the money refunded into my credit card and received no response. I unsuccessfully sent a third email and contacted them by phone but only a machine is available saying that the office is closed at that time. I have been a loyal groupon customer for 3 years but obviously they don't care loosing good customers. Now I see why this company is being investigated by The Office of Fair Trading!
