They advertise promo codes but don't let you use them. They hard code in a lower promo code that gives half the discount you would get with the promo code they emailed you or.sbow when you log.in. they're doing this 1. To save money 2. Hoping you'll come back and spend more money.
All you have to do to figure out how they're doing this is look at their coding on their website or in their app. There's code in there specifically to apply their SAVEMORE promo code and coding to prevent users from removing that promo and adding ones like saveinmay or welcome which are 20% savings vs 10 % so this is what I wrote to them. Oh also there is no easy way to get a human on their site. It took me 30 mins to figure out how to get a page where I could write my complaint but then they give you the option to email or chat. I first chose email but I don't think that works because I got a message to click the chat icon on the right and a message telling me volume is high so wait time is approx 90 mins. I went out came.back pasted same complaint and chose chat this time. Surprise! Same exact message. But when you look at the page for the chat icon guess what? There isn't one! So how the *** are you supposed to EVER CONTACT GROUPON WITH ISSUES. That's why I'm following this advice "
report manipulative sales practices by corporations, the primary agency to contact is the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). You can also report these practices to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) if the practices involve financial products or services.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Federal Trade Commission (FTC):
The FTC is the nation's consumer protection agency, and it's responsible for enforcing laws that prevent unfair, deceptive, and fraudulent business practices. They can investigate and take action against companies that break these laws. You can report fraud, scams, and unfair business practices through their official reporting platform, ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB):
The CFPB's mission is to protect consumers in financial markets from unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices. If the manipulative sales practices involve financial products or services like loans, credit cards, or investments, the CFPB may be the appropriate agency to contact.
Additional Information:
The FTC and CFPB also collect reports from consumers and law enforcement partners to help them identify and address potential violations.
If you are concerned about potential securities fraud or market manipulation, you can also report it to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

I have a promo code in my email that states the following

Set up your account and use your exclusive code at checkout of your first purchase
Code WELCOME
But when I go to make my purchase you apply a different promo code that only gives me approximately 5% off and there's no way to remove that promo code.
My sister is also having the same issue
There's a promo code for the month of May with a 20% off but she has the same problem when she tries to purchase something you guys automatically apply to save more coupon or promo code which is only 10% off
That's a huge difference between 10% and 20%
So neither of us can use promo code welcome or may promo Code. It's automatically applying a promo savemore Code for way less of a discount than the may coupon or my welcome promo and you automatically apply it without allowing us to select it and at check out YOU DONT LET US REMOVE IT TO APPLY THE ONE WE WANT!
My account I can't use may promo code bc you automatically apply savemore
My sister can't use her welcome 20% off first purchase because again you apply the same savemore 10% coupon and if she uses that then she can't use her 20% welcome because she will have already made a purchase and it won't apply because it will no longer be her first purchase so your promo codes are a SCAM & IF not resolved after I report this to the BBB I'm filing in small claims - yes I will file in small claims because my court fees are waived since I'm on disability.
You hard coded in forcing everyone to use the SAVEMORE promo code. I looked at your coding on your website and app.
What you're doing is illegal because it's false advertising a promotion that your customers can't use and in my sisters case, if she uses your SAVEMORE she can't come back and use welcome.promocode bc welcome is only eligible for first purchase.
Clearly your goal is to get people to come back and make another purchase with their other code and that's also illegal so I'm filing in court and reporting to all the government groups that oversee manipulative sales practices like these, I'm reporting to my state attorney general, BBB and

They’re unbelievably incompetent.
I purchased MicroSoft OFFICE Professional 2024 less than 2 hours ago via Groupon. All I received was an Order Number and the word Purchased from them!
No instructions for download or anything. I have tried to get help via their website but thats a joke. Each time I try to get in, they say my password is invalid.
Then when I try to change it, they CLAIM to send a link, but as soon (within 2 minutes) as I set a new password, I get the message LINK HAS EXPIRED. This is horrible!
- No live customer service
- Website is virtually worthless

Verified ReviewerDidn't get my my full order
I've contacted 3 times and received no response back. I ordered a shampoo set, order number 1000-14****-350767, and only got the conditioner, no shampoo.
I finally did get a hold of Groupon through Instagram, and they sent my issue to their third-party merchant. When I checked back 2 days later, Groupon stated the merchant emailed me. I haven't seen the email, and it said I picked the option of just the conditioner. That is absolutely false.
First, there are many complaints from customers not receiving the full set, and also, why would I scroll down the list to pick just conditioner and pay full price on Groupon? What's the point? I sent Groupon a screenshot of my receipt from the order, and it clearly states shampoo and conditioner set. Nowhere does it say 33oz conditioner.
Anyway, Groupon says they cannot do anything about this, and evidently, they do not vet their third-party merchants for scams. Never again will I buy from them.
- Supposed to have deals
- Use 3rd party merchants not accredited bbb businesses
Preferred solution: Shampoo that's included in my set. I received the conditioner

Verified ReviewerProduct does not work and merchant has refused to process a refund
I recently purchased a Microsoft Office product and received a product key that unfortunately did not work. I submitted a refund request, but instead of processing the refund, the merchant sent me three separate replacement product keys, none of which are valid.
This experience has been deeply frustrating, and it raises concerns about the integrity of sellers on your platform. It appears that the current system may be enabling questionable merchants to take advantage of customers. I kindly ask that this matter be reviewed urgently and that a full refund be issued as soon as possible.
I would also appreciate it if steps could be taken to investigate this merchant to prevent similar issues for other customers. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. The retailer eventually honoured my Groupon after much back and forth - should never have been denied in the first place by the retailer

The refund process is horrible. They do not have anyone with whom you can speak live.
The assistant seems to be extremely similar to AI. I had a death in my army family and being the veteran that I am, I had to drop everything and rush to assist upon leaving prior. I booked two hotel rooms in Round Rock, Texas. I had to cancel those rooms as I started to deal with a near-death situation.
I canceled the rooms within 5 to 10 minutes of booking them. It has been down to 15 days of arguments; I have not been reimbursed money nor given a voucher to supplement the loss of the wages used. The total disregard and lack of respect, not only for the dead but a deceased veteran of the United States Army who served us dearly, seems to be all for nothing knowing that they have my money. They even have the audacity to tell me I was forwarded a penalty for the cancellation.
Be mindful when using this group; make sure it's exactly what you need. Ensure that there is some type of redemption or retribution for any discrepancies you may encounter because this is not the only one on Valentine's Day. My wife and I sat out and waited for our ride to a vineyard only to receive an email with a cancellation because the driver was sick.

My account I can't use may promo code bc you automatically apply savemore My sister can't use her welcome 20% off first purchase because again you apply the same savemore 10% coupon and if she uses that then she can't use her 20% welcome because she will have already made a purchase and it won't apply because it will no longer be her first purchase so your promo codes are a SCAM & IF not resolved after I report this to the BBB I'm filing in small claims - yes I will file in small claims because my court fees are waived since I'm on disability.
Clearly your goal is to get people to come back and make another purchase with their other code and that's also illegal so I'm filing in court and reporting to all the government groups that oversee manipulative sales practices like these, I'm reporting to my state attorney general, BBB and "report manipulative sales practices by corporations, the primary agency to contact is the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). You can also report these practices to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) if the practices involve financial products or services. They can investigate and take action against companies that break these laws.
You can report fraud, scams, and unfair business practices through their official reporting platform, ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB): The CFPB's mission is to protect consumers in financial markets from unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices. If the manipulative sales practices involve financial products or services like loans, credit cards, or investments, the CFPB may be the appropriate agency to contact. Additional Information: The FTC and CFPB also collect reports from consumers and law enforcement partners to help them identify and address potential violations.
If you are concerned about potential securities fraud or market manipulation, you can also report it to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)",& since Groupon is a public company investors won't like this And my. Sisters account is ava.nicole0902@***.com
